3 Restaurant styling
Shanghai is known for three things: nightlife, bargaining and food, and lately the food department has upgraded its taste and style to a higher level. Szechuan food has risen in popularity over these past few years and numerous high class joints of this cuisine can be found all over the city. This restarant was the first place I hit up after arriving in SH and I have to say the place was pretty high end with a chill nightclub atmosphere. Food had a western styling that you can find in a 4 star restaurant but retained all that authentic asian flavor that is lost here in Vancouver. The most annoying part was the server trying to sell us a membership but hey, at least she was easy on the eyes!
1 Only in China
Chinese people can do anything with their bikes, I dont think I can even fit that tv in my van. This is where impossible meets creativity.

0 To-Do's and To-Don'ts: How to live while in Shanghai!
- Taxis, find your inner laziness and take a taxi where ever you go! Whether you’re traveling 5km or going around the block during a hot summer day, take a taxi, and in the immortal words of nike just do it!
- Why wash your hair at home when you can go to the nearest salon and get your hair washed and massaged for the price of 1.50$cdn! P.S getting it styled before you go have dinner or nightclub isn’t extra!
- Why buy real when you can get a replicate!(only applies to watches etcs) Because unless you start to money yourself, you shouldn’t buy authentic watches or else your just another one of those spoiled asian kids.
- Foot massages and body massages. Cost of foot massage=>5$cdn, cost of body massage=>10$ and up, feeling of cheap and quality labour=>priceless.
What not to do
- Buy fast cars. Car prices are triple of what it cost in Canada(bmw 325i is around 100,000cdn compared to 40,000 cdn in Vancouver). Plus traveling at the speed of 50km/h max isn’t fun even if your in a Lambo(picking up chicks aside =P).
- Ktv and karaoke means two different things, if you want to sing and drink=.>karaoke, if you want to have hot guys or girls accompany you while you sing=>ktv. Did I mention it will suck your wallet dry or get hustled by bouncers if you cant pay up.

2 To My Haters, Lovers, and Master Debaters.
I am in China.
The oriental sun is making its endeavor above the city of Shanghai. Meanwhile, the voided apartment seems to enjoy echoing back the clickity-clack of my computer keys as I type this blog. Overlooking the city of Shanghai, I am unpleased by the scent of car exhaust that has drifted itself upwards to my 25th floor. I write, not to tell you of this, but to ensure you that I have arrived safely in China. I am now inside the belly of the beast.
But, I am alone.
While my senses are aroused by the culture that surrounds me, I find myself desolate in a foreign country. I have brought with me the clothes in a carry-on, some foreign currency, and my laptop which I will use to ease me through those lonely nights where I am by myself. I wish to make some new friends before I return to Canada. I can only hope, that as I sift through the street shops, I bump into a lovely young lady. Perhaps then, I will become a man. Rest assured I will update such news when it happens.
Unfortunately, everything here is censored. The government is isolating me.
Facebook. Blogger. Twitter. All the sweetness of social connectivity I once enjoyed has been removed from me. The communist regime is taking my candy. I feel like the baby without his Lollipop. I want to cry. Fortunately, I have befriended a fellow who lives down the hall from me. His name is Xiao Pang, which means Little Fatty. We have managed to secure a private broadband signal under the noses of the Chinese Government. I will be using this to update my blog.
Little Fatty and I.
In light of bumping into Little Fatty, no pun intended, my hope is to update all of you to my summer vacation in China. I will be writing in future blogs about my (hopefully cured) loneliness, my secret mission of communicating with the external world, and about my new-found friendship with the gentleman down the hall.
So here's to all my Lovers, Haters, and Master Debaters,
-Will
P.S. I do not know if this blog has successfully posted itself over in Canada. If you could leave a comment on this post, it would help me know if my private server is working correctly. Thanks guys.

0 Small joke of the day about spiritual boasting
0 I want a pair of those
Tired of your boring windows? Want better scenery and see realistic views otherwise impossible through your ordinary windows? These plasma screens are connected to a hd camera elsewhere plus a motion sensor to provide realistic windowistic views. Now I know what I want for my next renovating project but I can expect the price to be steep.

0 Tofu girl

Name:蔡黃汝
Age:22
Nationality:Taiwanese
Hmm this one is very interesting. This girl, known as the "tofu" girl(real name 蔡黃汝) literally became famous overnight when someone took a picture of her during her job as a tofu seller. Apparantly she made 1 million twn dollars from the fame afterwards and modeling. Well this should motivate all of us to get our butts to taiwan and start selling food and hoping to get scouted for instant fame! p.s I call selling the stinky tofus LOL.
0 Fortune house

This one is very close to home, right across starbucks in metro and above the infamous dollar store. They are known for their long waiting times during dimsum period and even with reservation expect to wait 20 mins or so during a busy day. The food there is pretty good and surprisingly moderately price for their dimsum and other dishes. Nothing else too special about this place other then that but definitely not just another chinese restaurant. Sorry for poor picture quality though!

0 Afterschool BANG!
Another kpop girl band, seems to be the hype in korea. This one is named afterschool..well i guess with that many krn girl bands out there they must be running out of group names. Anyways, new song! Not a bad pump you up song, and plus it doesnt get annoying stuck in your head like the previous one. Uhh scratch that, this song might not get stuck in your head but it makes you want to listen to it over and over.

0 郭书瑶(Yao Yao)

Nationality: Taiwan
Age:19
Hmmmm Im going to be blunt as possible..33F(real) =O and she comes along with a really cute voice!(although singing aint that great). And yea, sometimes I think she is cute to the point that she is evil!!!! "Oppaaaaa *cute voice*" then next moment she stabs you with a knife >>.
0 Red Chicken
When the words red chicken appear the only thing that comes my mind is vancouver's spiciest korean place. I love spicy food and but before this restaurant I have never had anything in vancouver thats spicy enough to make me run around with my mouth open(well didnt really happened but you get the point xD). Anyways, the restaurant itself is generally busy and seats do fill up around 6pm. The atmosphere is pretty chill, and the place was clean and not too noisy. For first timers there, you must try the buldak with or without cheese(although cheese is better). The chicken is enough to feed 2 people and they will supply you with gloves as well. The buldak itself is the spiciest thing I have ate in vancouver hands down. For the first couple of seconds you might not feel a thing but it will definitely hit you HARD. Pain can last for a good 2 minutes IF you have water, but the taste and the pain will make you keep on eating! Taste is certainly not sacrificed for spiciness in this case. The side dishes was not bad and comparable to other korean restaurants in the vicinity. From what I seen, the hotpot dishes were very popular as well and I will definitely give them a try next time I pay them a visit..soooooooo who wants to come? haha
Cost:low to mids
Rating:****1/2(if you like intense spiciness)

1 Cactus Club~
Been going to CC for ages but never really thought about their food. First of all, the food was moderately priced. It won't kill your wallet.. if you do not go there too often, but its not your typically cheap student 5-10 dollar meal either. Prices ranges from 10-40$cdn depending on what you order not including the drinks though. The most expensive items are the steaks, but they are very good(medium rare) and the mash potato is just the best tasting mash potato I have ever ate. One thing to definitely try at CC is their yam fries, and for those of you who never ate them before, you will love them with the sauce that comes along. Overall, they have a great atmosphere for parties or just classy but not too expensive dining experience. Plus, you have to admit that steak looks good or if you are a veggie-only kind of person then the quesadilla w/yam fries is a great choice as well!
